Serving: Nursing Home

On Thursday, November 4th, we took a group of students to the nursing home. It was a great time for them to get out and meet some of the "older" individuals in the nursing home. They did a great job fellowshipping with them and playing BINGO. I always feel "odd" snapping photos at us serving and in "their space". So, I limited it to 5 photos and w/o the flash. So, here are a few photos to show us out and about.

ACTS

Here is the "philosophy" of ministry that we will be using within our student ministry at Christ The Savior. The philosophy of ministry is "our tool" to help us (as a student ministry) reach the mission of our church: Reaching people to know, love and serve Christ.

If you have a ministry thought or suggestion that we can do in each one of these areas, please let us know.

Bingo: Harbour Manor

Harbour Manor is located at 1667 Sheridan Road in Noblesville. We are asking parents to drop their students off at 6:45. Our meeting time will be 7-8 pm. Parents, please pick the students up at that time. We will be visiting with the residents of the Manor and playing bingo with them. We hope to see you there.

ACTS: What Does It Mean ?

In the future, you will be hearing about ACTS. We are not trying to be "sacrilegious" but we will be using it (ACTS) as an acronym to describe a philosophy of ministry. We recognize that each student is at a different spot in their Christian walk and we want to gear ministry to each one of them. Here is a brief summary:

Attract

We want to attract students to Christ and to the ministry of Christ The Savior.

Connect

We want to connect students to God to to fellow students already connected to Christ The Savior.

Transform

We want students lives to transform into the likeness of Jesus Christ our Savior.

Send

We want to send students out to be the hands and feet of Christ so we can influence our community and impact our world.

Hay Ride and Cornmaze

Roots Annual Bon Fire, Hayride and Corn Maze!

Just a reminder that we will have our annual Roots Bon Fire, Hayride and Corn Maze THIS Friday, October 8th at Russell Farms in Noblesville.

Check-in will begin at 6:45pm in the parking lot at Russell Farms. Cost is $7 plus an empty shoebox to be used for Operation Christmas Child. Friends are welcome!

EVERYONE must have a current CTS Medical Consent form on file in order to participate. We don’t have very many on file yet this year. If you aren’t sure if you have completed one for your student this year, please complete the attached form and bring it with you Friday. Friends must also complete the Medical Consent form. Students will need to be picked up at 9:00pm.

As it stands today, we will most likely not be able to have a bon fire due to the Hamilton County fire ban. We will still be able take our hayride and enjoy the corn maze. Students should bring a flashlight with them for the maze.

Parent chaperons are still needed, so if you are free for the evening and would like to join us, please let me know.

Roots WILL meet Thursday October 7th.

And a final reminder that we will be collecting donation items for Operation Christmas Child beginning this Thursday and will be assembling boxes on Thursday October 28th. Parent volunteers are needed to assist on the 28th. Suggested donation items are…school supplies, small toys, hygiene items, hard candy and lollipops (please double bag all candy), mints, gum, t-shirts, socks, ball caps, sunglasses, hair clips, toy jewelry, watches, flashlights.

Taming the Tongue

On Thursday, September 23rd, 23 5th and 6th graders got together for a great night of fun and fellowship at the church while learning a great lesson about respect and taming the tongue. It is so much fun seeing the "high energy" of the 5th and 6th graders and yet at the same time seeing them connect with God.

We had fun as we played dodge ball to pen the evening. But, we got serious and watched a video about Operation Christmas Child and sang a worship song before going into our connection games (4 corners and will it float). We then had our lesson via Club Respect on Taming the Tongue. The students then broke up into small groups to talk among their grade/gender on how they are with taming the tongue.

Hope to see you next Thursday.

Finger Rocket Wars

On Thursday night, September 16th, we had a 3-minute Finger Rocket War. it was girls vs. boys. I believe the boys won this time around, but the girls will no doubt come out on top when we play again or next week when we shift things up to another game.

Thursday, was our first night and it was exceleent. Here is what the schedule looked liked for those unable to attend.

6:30 - 7:00 was open fellowship and pizza time. The students played volleyball inside and basketball out on the courts. There were also many students who sat on the stage and talked while enjoying life. However, a dodge ball game broke out and many jumped aboard for that activity. When the evening, kicjed into full swing:

- welcome / announcements
- group games: finger wars, four corners, will it float
- worship song - salvation is here
- lesson
- scripture reading
- closing prayer
- clean up and candy (support compassion child)

Here are a few pictures from the finger rocket wars:

Our lesson was on respect and we looked at 1 Samuel 26 David still had respect for King Saul because God had put Saul in "authority".

Respect

In September, we are looking at RESPECT.

Respect is showing others they are important by what you say and do.

Below is a video that shares the concept of Respect.
